         Marcus Mettius Rufus praefectus Aegypti dicit : Claudius Arius strategus Oxyrhynchiti me certiorem fecit neque priuatas neque publicas res conuenientem ordinem seruare ex eo quod longo iam tempore non uti oportuit in tabulario possessionum tabulae administratae sint, etsi saepe a praefectis qui ante me fuerunt decretum sit ut necessariam correctionem reciperent. Quod non bene continget nisi antea exempla fiant.
       Iubeo igitur omnes dominos intra sex menses proprium dominium inscribere in tabulario possessionum, et creditores quas habeant hypothecas et ceteros quae habeant iura, descriptionem autem faciant declarans quisque unde bonorum descenderit in eos dominium.
         Referant autem et mulieres in tabulas uirorum, si per aliquam regionis legem bona obligata sunt. Item et liberi in parentum, quibus ususfructus quidem publicis instrumentis reseruatur, proprietas uero post mortem liberis concessa est, ne contrahentes per ignorantiam decipiantur.
         Iubeo autem et eos qui scribunt contractus et eos qui custodiunt nihil sine mandato curae librorum perficere, scientes (non modo) id inutile fore, sed etiam ipsos contra iussa agentes poenam passuros statutam. Si uero sunt in tabulario superiorum temporum descriptiones, cum omni diligentia custodiantur, similiter et exempla, ut, si qua fiat inuestigatio in posterum de iis quae non ut oportuit descripta sunt, ex illis arguantur.
        Ut igitur firmus et in perpetuum maneat tabularum usus, ne rursus descriptione opus sit, iubeo librorum custodes quinto quoque anno tabulas renouare, in nouas relata postrema cuiusque nominis descriptione secundum uicos et formas.
