ENGLISH TRANSLATION.
 

 
      Gaius Caesar, saluted imperator, dictator, consul, for the interest of the Senate and the people of the Romans, grants Hyrcanus, son of Alexander, that both he and his children because of their honor and virtue and benevolence shall be high priests and priests of Jerusalem and of their nation with the rights and the regulations under which their ancestors held the priesthood.
