CONSTITUTION
AGAINST THE CAESARIANS ( After AD 314 ) |
( Johnson, Coleman-Norton & Bourne, Ancient Roman Statutes, Austin, 1961, pp. 239-240, n. 303 ). ENGLISH TRANSLATION. |
As
you know, your own knowledge, which is a witness, affords trustworthy
proof that the chief purpose of our Clemency is and always has been,
with respect to our administration, that the happiness of the City of
Rome, which obeys our commands, shall be protected by the strongest
guarantees against absolutely every false accusation which the desperate
lawlessness of the Caesarians has kept devising against every class
of people in the City. |
